At Smaointe CBT, we are here to support your mental health journey. Based in Carrigaline, Co. Cork, our award-winning clinic was founded by Katrina Dennehy to provide a safe, compassionate space for clients.

Our Team

We believe that therapy works best when you feel truly heard, understood, and supported.​ Our team is made up of highly trained, experienced professionals who bring genuine care, compassion, and empathy to every session.

We work with adults and adolescents, offering support for a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, and life transitions.

Each member of our team is:

  • Accredited with relevant professional bodies (e.g. APCP, IACP, etc.)

​

  • Trained in a range of approaches including CBT, Integrative Psychotherapy, and trauma-informed care.

  • Committed to ongoing professional development and supervision.

  • Guided by a belief in creating a non-judgmental, respectful space where your voice matters.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

​

CBT is a practical, structured type of therapy that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. When we’re feeling anxious, low, or stuck, we often get caught in unhelpful thought patterns. CBT helps you: Identify those patterns, challenge them, and replace them with more balanced, helpful ways of thinking.


CBT is a collaborative, goal-focused approach. Together with your therapist, you’ll work on developing tools and strategies to help you cope with challenges, build confidence, and feel more in control of your life.

 

CBT is "problem focused" (undertaken for specific problems) and "action oriented" (therapist tries to assist the client in selecting specific strategies to help address those problems).

Integrative Psychotherapy

Integrative Psychotherapy is a flexible, personalised approach to therapy. Instead of using just one method, your therapist will draw from a range of techniques, such as CBT or humanistic, to help you explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a way that feels right for you.
